I am Shreyasi* Das, an interdisciplinary visual artist living and creating in Tiohtià:ke (colonially known as Montréal, Canada). My work weaves slow handcrafts and expressive arts to create gentle visual poetry. With a focus on composing soft and tenderhearted imagery, I experiment with assembling and harmonizing textiles, fine arts, and digital media in my practice. I use predominantly intuitive processes and existing materials, allowing my work to unfold and guide me. Highly sensitive, neurodivergent, and invisibly disabled, I celebrate the healing rituals of art-making.
โ
For the last decade I have been working as a Lighting and Look Development artist for Feature Animation Films and I am currently working on an experimental series of short, mixed-media, frame-by-frame animations. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Animation from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. I was raised in West Bengal, India.
